Former Coronation Street star James Craven joins the cast of upcoming thriller Curfew for Paramount+.

Former Coronation Street star James Craven has been cast in new Paramount+ thriller Curfew.

The youngster appeared on the cobbles between April 2022 and June 2023 as Aaron Sandford, initially the boyfriend of Summer (Harriet Bibby) who went on to have non-consensual sex with Amy (Elle Mulvaney) after a boozy night together.

Curfew is set in a dystopian society where something called "The Men's Safety Act" means that all men are subject to a daily 7pm-7am curfew, with their movements monitored 24/7 by ankle tags.

The drama follows what happens when a woman is brutally murdered and left on the steps of the Women's Safety Centre during curfew hours.

The all-star cast includes Sarah Parish, Doctor Who's Mandip Gill and The X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, as well as EastEnders stars Bobby Brazier, Anita Dobson, Larry Lamb and Lucy Benjamin.

Confirming his participation, Craven posted on Instagram: "This is the new project that I started working on yesterday for @paramountplusuk @vertigo_films directed by the amazing @joasiagoldyn.

"This is one heck of a story, a thought provoking thriller led by a phenomenal cast. I can't wait for you all to see it."

Filming on the six-part series is now underway, with a release on Paramount+ likely in late 2024 or early 2025.
