Gogglebox favourites Mary and Marina have been pictured receiving their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine together.

The best friends are both in their 80s and live in sheltered flats next door to each other in Bedminster, Bristol.

In a photo shared by the Clinical Commissioning Group, which is responsible for GP surgeries in the area, the duo are seen attending a clinic for their first doses of the two-jab vaccine.

Mary and Marina have been part of the Channel 4 series for five years, although for their own safety they were dropped from the show twice last year as England entered coronavirus lockdowns in March and November.

According to the latest government figures, over 3.8 million people have now received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine in the UK, while from today all those aged 70 and over have also become eligible for vaccination.
