'Love Island' to start in August, be filmed in UK?

Love Island could reportedly be postponed until August and film in the UK rather than Spain this year.

The new series of Love Island could reportedly take place in the UK rather than Spain due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Many TV productions have been cancelled or delayed in the wake of the outbreak, which has led to a lockdown and strict social distancing measures across Europe.

Love Island traditionally begins on ITV2 in June and producers are reportedly "all systems go" to ensure that the series can still go ahead regardless.

According to Variety, one way of getting the show on air would be to film in the UK and delay the start date by two months, by which time the UK's lockdown measures could have been eased.

In the meantime, producers are said to have begun casting the show by interviewing prospective contestants over video chat.

ITV has yet to comment on the speculation surrounding the scheduling of the series.
