TV chef Martha Stewart has admitted that she had "been drinking" after confusing fans with a bizarre Instagram message.

With most of the world on lockdown due to coronavirus, the 78-year-old has been entertaining and informing her 2.9 million followers with baking tutorials under the hashtag #homeschoolwithmartha.

Over the Easter weekend Stewart decided to comment on a video of baby chicks at a hen house in Texas, however, writing: "M as me sure you feed and wAter them daily And keep the heat lss as no BK in s as Nd when you can finally come back to nyc who is going to care for them??"

After fans questioned what she meant, Stewart returned an hour later to admit: "What a mess I have been drinking."

Stewart has past experience of isolation, having spent five months in jail in 2004 for her part in a stock market scandal.
