Sam Neill: 'Jurassic World 3 in the fridge for now'

Sam Neill says that the only two weeks of filming had been completed on the new Jurassic World movie before the coronavirus lockdown began.

Sam Neill has revealed that only two weeks of filming on the third Jurassic World movie had been completed in London before the coronavirus shutdown.

Jurassic World: Dominion will feature the return of Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern from the original Jurassic Park franchise alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

The majority of filming is to take place at Pinewood Studios in London, with additional shooting in Canada, Hawaii and Malta, although production is currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Neill was about to begin filming his scenes before the lockdown forced him to return to his native New Zealand.

"Well, we're in the fridge for the time being," he told Nova 96.9. "They got two weeks done. I was waiting in London for my stuff to start. Then it became apparent where it was going to be.

"I'd like to think that maybe we can start or restart in this part of the world. We're supposed to be in London, but it's a complete mess at the moment.

"We're using the Bond stage. They built these enormous sets on the Bond stage in London, so they'd like to use those ideally."

Jurassic World: Dominion is scheduled for release on June 11, 2021.
