First celebrity unmasked on The Masked Singer

The first celebrity is revealed on the new series of The Masked Singer UK.

The new series of The Masked Singer UK began last night with M People's Heather Small being unmasked.

The '90s icon had taken on the character of Chandelier for the show and had attempted to hide her distinctive voice while performing a cover of the Patsy Cline classic 'Crazy'.

Ultimately the studio audience and the judges decided that she was one to be unmasked, and after the reveal, the judges were shocked - especially Mo Gilligan, who had earlier guessed Small for a different character.

Speaking afterwards, she said: "The challenge was to disguise my voice so the panel couldn't get to guess who I was. I wanted it to be a real surprise and I think I achieved that.

"I live with my son and mother and they had no clue! I managed to keep it a secret."

The Masked Singer continues tonight at 7.30pm with the first performances from Bagpipes, Rockhopper, Poodle, Panda, Snow Leopard and Traffic Cone.
