Arsenal have been right at the forefront of the Premier League's explosion into the biggest league in football, providing some of the greatest moments in the division's history.

The arrival of Arsene Wenger in 1996 helped to turn the Gunners into a major power in the top flight once again, and they have since lifted the trophy on three occasions - in 1998, 2002 and 2004.

While the wait since 2004 has been an agonising and frustrating one for Arsenal fans - to the extent that a large portion of the supporters want Wenger to step down from his role - Arsenal also produced arguably the greatest Premier League side of all time that year as their 'Invincibles' became the first and so far only team to go through an entire season unbeaten.

The 2016-17 campaign saw Arsenal finish outside the top four for the first time since Wenger's arrival at the club, but as the third most successful club in English top-flight history they will be hopeful of bouncing back during the upcoming season.

To celebrate 25 years of the competition, here Sports Mole counts down Arsenal's 25 greatest players of the Premier League era.
