Derby County are reportedly considering a move for John Terry should Frank Lampard depart for Chelsea.

John Terry is said to be in the frame to replace former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard at the helm of Derby County.

Lampard's impressive first season in club management saw him take the Rams all the way to the Championship playoff final and has led to him being installed as the firm favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge following Maurizio Sarri's departure for Juventus.

Terry, meanwhile, has been serving as assistant manager at Aston Villa for the last campaign and saw his side defeat County in the playoff final to win promotion back to the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail, Derby are already thinking about possible replacements should Lampard depart and are considering Terry as a serious contender.

The newspaper says that in his role at Villa, Terry has been proven to have a positive effect on the younger members of the squad such as Tammy Abraham, Tyrone Mings and Axel Tuanzebe.

Other names in the frame for the Derby job include sacked Birmingham City boss Garry Monk, Charlton Athletic's Lee Bowyer and former Stoke City manager Gary Rowett.
