Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte says that he is "fine and well" after testing positive for COVID-19 last weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has insisted that he is "fine and well" after recovering from COVID-19 infection.

The Italian was on the touchline for Spurs' 4-0 win at Aston Villa last Saturday before reportedly testing positive for the virus later that weekend.

Conte therefore emerged as a doubt to take charge of Tottenham's meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion, but the Spurs boss has now recovered from mild symptoms and should be fine for Saturday's meeting with the Seagulls.

"After the game vs Villa the day after I started to feel a bit of mild symptoms, pain in my throat and I asked to have Covid test and it was positive. Now I'm fine and I'm well," Conte told reporters at his pre-match press conference, as quoted by football.london.

Tottenham's meeting with Brighton will be Conte's 30th match in charge of the club in all competitions as Spurs seek to consolidate their grip on fourth place in the Premier League table.

On a more sombre note, Conte also confirmed that Matt Doherty would miss the rest of the season with the knee injury he picked up at Villa Park.
