Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have no immediate plans to sack Antonio Conte following the club's last-16 exit from the Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have no immediate plans to sack Antonio Conte following the club's Champions League exit.

Speculation about Conte's future has continued to grow after Tottenham were knocked out of the Champions League by AC Milan on Wednesday.

The last-16 exit ensures that Tottenham's trophy drought continues - a run which stretches back to their EFL Cup success in the 2007-08 season.

Conte, who was appointed in November 2021, has a contract with the North London club until the end of the current campaign.

Spurs have the option to trigger a one-year extension, but there is a belief that they will decide against activating the 12-month clause.

However, there has also been speculation that Tottenham could remove Conte from his post before his contract expires.

Following Tottenham's Champions League elimination, the 51-year-old admitted that the club may decide to relieve him of his duties.

Conte told Italian TV: "My contract expires in June. We will see - they might sack me even before the end of the season, who knows, maybe they are disappointed."

However, according to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have no immediate plans to sack Conte, but their stance could change depending on upcoming results.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is currently leaving the club's football operational staff to deal with the manager's position.

The report goes on to indicate that Levy could decide to intervene if Tottenham's chances of finishing in the top four diminish in the coming weeks.

Tottenham are sitting in fourth position in the Premier League table, but they are only three points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

With only a few months to run on the Italian's £15m-a-year contract, the cost of sacking Conte would not exceed £5m.

Several members of Tottenham's dressing room want former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino to return, while the likes of Luis Enrique, Roberto De Zerbi and Oliver Glasner have been mooted as possible successors.

Steve Cooper has also been linked with the role, and his Nottingham Forest side will travel to North London to face Tottenham on Saturday.
