Stuart Gray 'disappointed' with Sheffield Wednesday display

Sheffield Wednesday caretaker manager Stuart Gray admits that Wigan Athletic outplayed his side during this evening's abandoned Championship meeting.

Sheffield Wednesday caretaker manager Stuart Gray has declared that he was "disappointed" with his side's performance during this evening's abandoned Championship clash with Wigan Athletic.

The Owls coach admitted that his team, who were trailing 1-0 when the game was called off due to adverse weather conditions, were second best throughout the first half.

"I'm totally disappointed with the first-half performance. We got outplayed, bullied, individual errors, decision-making," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"I was happy to get in at half time only 1-0 down, but for 15 minutes in the second half I thought we bossed it."

Gray added that referee Keith Stroud made the correct call when he abandoned the match, pointing out that player safety must come first in such situations.

"In the end it had to be the right decision. The players' safety is the most important thing," he added. "Players can't run with the ball, the ball's sticking. Sometimes it's quite amusing for the supporters, but you've got to think of the players' health."

James McClean of Wigan scored the evening's only goal before the match was brought to a premature end.
