Baltimore Ravens conditioning coach Bob Rogucki has claimed that running back Ray Rice "looks great" at the start of the team's conditioning programme.
Rice suffered a hip injury at the beginning of last season and subsequently struggled to reach his usual heights, rushing for just 660 yards and only having one run over 20 yards.
The 27-year-old was also criticised for failing to control his weight at times, but Rogucki revealed that changes to his diet had helped the three-time Pro Bowler keep in shape during the off-season.
"He looks great. He's doing some things differently as far as his diet and so forth, and he told me has a handle on it. Whatever he did from the end of the season until now, he's in a good position right now," Rogucki told reporters.
Rice's playing future remains in doubt after he was indicted on third-degree aggravated assault charges last month.
