GB's Shara Proctor misses out on historic gold in long jump final

Great Britain's Shara Proctor just misses out on a historic gold medal in the women's long jump final at the Worlds but claims silver with a British-record jump.

Great Britain's Shara Proctor has had to settle for a silver medal in the long jump final at the World Championships, despite setting a British record with two jumps over seven metres.

In the 26-year-old's third attempt, she recorded 7.07m to move to the top of the pack and continued her dominance with a fourth jump of 7.01m.

Proctor looked on course to become the first ever British female long-jump world champion, but the USA's Tianna Bartoletta pulled out a huge 7.14m jump in the final round to take the top spot on the podium.

Serbia's Ivana Spanovic claimed bronze, while Britain's Lorraine Ugen finished fifth and Katarina Johnson-Thompson dropped out in 11th place.
