Team News: Steven Finn missing for England's opening one-day international with Sri Lanka

Injured Steven Finn misses England's opening ODI with Sri Lanka in Colombo, while Alex Hales and James Taylor are also left out of the XI for the rain-delayed match.

A groin injury has ruled Steven Finn out of England's opening one-day international with Sri Lanka in Colombo.

The paceman failed a late fitness test ahead of the rain-delayed match at the R Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday.

Nottinghamshire duo Alex Hales and James Taylor miss out despite strong finishes to the domestic season, with Moeen Ali preferred at the top of the order and all-rounder Ravi Bopara recalled.

James Tredwell is England's frontline spinner in the subcontinent, while Harry Gurney will lead the seam attack in the absence of Finn and rested regulars Stuart Broad and James Anderson.

World T20 champions Sri Lanka have made several changes following a series whitewash in India, as Kumar Sangakkara, Rangana Herath, Kusal Perera and debutant Dilruwan Perera all in the side.

Lasith Malinga is injured and off-spinner Sachithra Senanayake banned due to an illegal action.

Sri Lanka: Dilshan, K Perera, K Sangakkara (wk), Jayawardene, Mathews (c), Thirimanne, J Mendis, D Perera, Prasad, Herath, A Mendis

England: Ali, Cook (c), Bell, Root, Morgan, Buttler (wk), Bopara, Stokes, Woakes, Tredwell, Gurney
