Silver for England in men's time trial
Harry Tanfield picks up silver for Team England in the individual time trial cycling event at the Commonwealth Games.

Harry Tanfield has claimed a silver medal for Team England in the men's individual time trial event at the Commonwealth Games.

The 23-year-old - older brother of Charlie Tanfield, who won gold in the individual pursuit last week - completed the 38.5km course in a time of 48:43.30, some 30 seconds behind Australia's Cameron Meyer.

The course started and finished on Currumbin Beachfront and included a steep 800m section known as "the beast" around two-thirds of the way through.

Tanfield's podium position comes as somewhat of a surprise as he was not considered among the main contenders and last week described himself as "kind of filling in".

Hamish Bond of New Zealand took the bronze medal, finishing a little over two seconds behind Tanfield, while another home favourite Callum Scotson had to settle for fourth place.

Charlie Tanfield came in eighth with a time of 50:42.83, closely followed by England teammate Ian Bibby on 50:43.88.
