Jack Laugher dominates with 3m gold

Jack Laugher claims a comfortable gold in the 3m springboard event at the Commonwealth Games.

Jack Laugher has recorded two 90-plus scores en route to gold in the men's 3m springboard event at the Commonwealth Games.

The 23-year-old triumphed in the 1m springboard last night and put in an assured performance again tonight to secure a second gold in as many days, notching up a total score of 519.40.

Laugher's repertoire included a stunning 95.00 for his forward 4-1/2, as well as a 94.50 for his reverse 3-1/2.

Scotland's James Heatly managed a fifth-placed finish but continued to demonstrate signs of promise with an 87.50 for his reverse 1-1/2 with 3-1/2 twists.

Silver went the way of experienced Canadian Philippe Gagne, his solid performance earning a total score of 452.70, while Australia's James Connor followed up his silver in the 1m with a bronze and a score of 438.50.

England's Ross Haslam was just outside the medals with a score of 432.45, his brother Jack finishing eighth on 389.00.
