Jenny Platt is to reprise her role as Violet Wilson on Coronation Street for a brief stint as part of son Dylan's involvement in the bullying storyline.

Jenny Platt is to make a return to Coronation Street as Violet Wilson after 13 years away.

The character is the mother of Dylan (Liam McCheyne), who has been living with his father Sean (Antony Cotton) in Weatherfield for the past few years.

Violet was a regular on the cobbles from 2004 until 2008, when she left Weatherfield with Dylan for a new life in London.

Platt last made a guest appearance on the soap in 2011 when Sean tracked down Violet in London, but now she will be back for around a month as part of Dylan's involvement in the bullying storyline.

Cotton recently told reporters: "Tomorrow, after 16 years, Jenny Platt, who plays Violet Wilson, is coming back - she starts tomorrow.

"So I've got three scenes with her tomorrow and we will film across the next month. She's not coming back permanently, but she's coming back."

Violet will be seen back on screen in the episode airing on Wednesday, March 20.
