Ncuti Gatwa hints that he will play The Doctor in Doctor Who for some time to come.

Ncuti Gatwa has suggested that he will continue to play The Doctor on Doctor Who for some time yet.

The actor took over as the newest incarnation of the Time Lord late last year and his first full series - alongside Mille Gibson as companion Ruby Sunday - is due to air next month.

Gatwa has already filmed most of his second series, which is due to air in 2025, and in a new interview he has suggested that he is on board for a third series and potentially more.

Speaking to Radio Times, he admitted: "I'll be around for a while. You're not getting rid of me yet."

Meanwhile, Gatwa and Gibson backed up showrunner Russell T Davies's recent description of the series finale as "devastating".

"I think people will all want to call their best friend up [afterwards]," noted Gibson, with Gatwa adding: "I echo that sentiment, it's about love and friendship so I think people will be feeling that by the final episode."

Doctor Who returns with a double-bill at midnight UK via iPlayer on Saturday, May 11 and via Disney+ in the rest of the world.
