Miriam Margolyes will voice 'Beep the Meep' in the upcoming 60th anniversary specials of Doctor Who.

Veteran actress Miriam Margolyes will be part of the upcoming Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, it has been announced.

The iconic sci-fi series marks its milestone birthday in November with David Tennant returning as a new incarnation of The Doctor alongside former companion Catherine Tate.

Previously-announced guest stars for the episodes include Neil Patrick Harris, Ruth Madeley, Yasmin Finney and the late Bernard Cribbins, and now Harry Potter star Margolyes has been added to the list.

The 82-year-old will provide the voice of Beep the Meep, a furry little alien - previously only seen in the comics and audio adventures - who harbours megalomaniac desires.

"I'm relieved I got to work on Doctor Who before I died. With sci-fi you never know," Margolyes said in a statement. "Thank you for making an old woman very happy."

The three specials with Tennant will precede Ncuti Gatwa's debut as The Doctor in time for this year's Christmas special.
