Emmerdale down to eight episodes remaining?

ITV reportedly has just eight episodes of Emmerdale left to broadcast before it drops off air.

Emmerdale reportedly has just eight episodes left on the shelf before it drops off air.

Production on the long-running soap was halted in March due to coronavirus, and since then ITV has been airing three episodes a week instead of the usual six in order to keep it on air for as long as possible.

According to The Sun, prior to last night's broadcast there were just nine completed episodes of the show remaining, meaning that as it stands the final episode will air on Friday, June 5.

Emmerdale is not expected to begin filming again until June 8, suggesting that it could be mid to late July at the earliest before it returns to screens.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street is said to have 20 episodes left to broadcast, keeping it on air until Friday, July 3.

With filming on that show expected to pick up again on June 1, there remains an outside possibility that Corrie could make it through the pandemic without having to drop out of the ITV schedules.
