Lord Sugar mocks Piers Morgan over coronavirus test

Lord Sugar blasts Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan for taking a coronavirus test, accusing him of hypocrisy.

Lord Sugar has mocked former friend Piers Morgan for taking a coronavirus test amid concerns he had contracted the disease.

The Good Morning Britain presenter announced on Sunday that he had picked up a "mild symptom" of COVID-19 and would be stepping aside from the morning show until he has been given the all-clear.

Morgan and Sugar have spectacularly fallen out as the pandemic has escalated in recent months, with the presenter previously branding the billionaire "selfish, stupid, privileged" for his attitude towards the crisis.

Retweeting Morgan's announcement, Sugar wrote: "I SINCERELY HOPE IT IS NEGATIVE AS WE CANT MISS THE COMEDY MONDAY TO THURSDAY AT 6AM

"I wonder if @piersmorgan mild symptoms are actually withdrawal symptoms as he can find anything to blame the government for next week."

In a subsequent post, Sugar accused Morgan of hypocrisy, writing: "How did @piersmorgan get a test when so many front line workers are unable. He would be crowing from the roof top if it was another celebrity."

Morgan has not been active on Twitter since he made his announcement.
