The Great British Bake Off's new co-host Alison Hammond says that she 'knew in her heart' that she would get the job.

Alison Hammond has admitted that her new role as co-host of The Great British Bake Off felt like destiny.

Earlier this year the This Morning presenter was revealed as Noel Fielding's new on-screen partner in the famous tent after Matt Lucas left the show due to other work commitments.

"It's weird but I felt like this was something I was always meant to do," Hammond told The Guardian. "I just knew it in my heart. I felt a little bit sick, I wanted it so badly.

"When I found out I'd got it, I was proper excited. Genuinely couldn't wait to get started. Matt sent me a good luck voice note, which was really lovely."

The Great British Bake Off returns to Channel 4 for a new series later this month.
