Doctor Alex invites homeless friends to move in

Doctor Alex George admits that he has broken strict lockdown rules in order to move in friends.

Doctor Alex George has admitted that he has allowed friends to move into his flat during the coronavirus pandemic.

The former Love Island star has been battling the disease on the frontline at a hospital in Lewisham and has been documenting his experience to followers on Instagram.

The 30-year-old has been self-isolating away from his girlfriend but has now flouted the strict government guidelines on social distancing in order to help out friends who were between tenancies.

"They've had a problem with their accommodation and have had to move here," he is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying. "They have been self-isolating for a month and have been following all the rules and distancing.

"Obviously it's not an ideal situation, but I'm not going to see my friends out on the streets, so it was kind of a no-brainer.

"We're going to take all the precautions we can. I've got a different bathroom... in a weird way it's kind of nice to know that someone is in the house.

"For my mental health, it's been very difficult for the last few weeks and months and knowing someone is there is kind of nice. Non ideal situation but sometimes you have to make the best of what you can do."

More than 210,000 people worldwide have now died from COVID-19, including over 21,000 in the UK.
