ITV reportedly secures the services of a villa in Jersey as a backup location for this summer's Love Island.

ITV has reportedly developed a contingency plan to enable this summer's series of Love Island to go ahead come what may.

The ITV2 ratings heavyweight was cancelled last summer due to coronavirus but producers are determined to get the show back on air this summer and are confident of staging it at the usual villa in Majorca.

A recent report claimed that the new cast, as well as backup contestants and production crew, will all fly out to the Spanish island in May and complete a mandatory quarantine before the series starts in June.

Should travel to Majorca be ruled out, however, The Sun says that the show will relocate to a backup villa on the island of Jersey - a dependency of the UK.

"After what we've endured over the last year they are taking nothing for granted," a source told the newspaper.

"Their motto is: hope for the best, plan for the worst. Every eventuality has been addressed and planned for - including a third wave. But the general feeling is that Majorca is a go."

According to the latest figures, Jersey - population 100,000 - has just five active cases of coronavirus on the island.
