Prime Minister Boris Johnson announces that he must extend his period of self-isolation after contracting coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has revealed that he is continuing his period of self-isolation after contracting coronavirus.

The PM revealed last Friday that he had tested positive for the deadly disease and had been due to come out of self-isolation today.

In a video update filmed at Downing Street, Johnson insisted that he is "feeling better" but is still running a temperature.

"Although I am feeling better and I've done my seven days of isolation alas I still have one of the minor symptoms," he said.

"I still have a temperature. So in accordance with government advice I must continue my self-isolation until that symptom itself goes.

"But we're working clearly the whole time on our programme to beat the virus."

Johnson is one of the 1 million people to have tested positive for COVID-19 worldwide to date.
