Paul O'Grady announces that he has decided to leave his Sunday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2 after almost 14 years.

Paul O'Grady has announced that he is leaving his Sunday afternoon Radio 2 show after almost 14 years.

The 67-year-old has been a firm fixture in the 5pm to 7pm Sunday slot since April 2009 and has also presented a special edition - under the guise Paul 'The Grinch' O'Grady - every Christmas Day.

Explaining his decision, O'Grady said: "I've loved doing my Sunday afternoon show for the last 14 years and I'm going to miss my listeners as well as the fun I've had with my producer Malcolm Prince, but I feel that now is the right time to go."

Radio 2 head Helen Thomas said: "I'd like to thank Paul for so many years of his brilliant Sunday afternoon show.

"I'm sorry to see him go, but I wish Paul the very best of luck for the future and hope to work with him again as the door is always open to him here at Radio 2."

O'Grady's final show will air this Sunday, August 14.
