Radio 1 to stage Lockdown Awards

Radio 1 will stage a one-off Lockdown Awards later this month in place of the annual Teen Awards.

BBC Radio 1 has announced plans for a one-off Radio 1 Lockdown Awards later this month in lieu of the annual Radio 1 Teen Awards.

The show will air as part of Greg James's breakfast show on Thursday, November 26 and will see the presenter both nominate and decide the winners in a range of categories such as Favourite Live Performance, Biggest Zoom Fail and Fitness Inspiration of the Year.

"I know what you're thinking: 'Oh great, another awards ceremony, just what we all need'. But actually, we've never been more reliant on nonsense to keep us going," said James.

"It's basically a great opportunity to re-live some of the things that have made us laugh during this pig of a year."

The ceremony will also feature live music highlights from the Teen Awards from over the years, including performances from One Direction, Little Mix and Camila Cabello.
