Line of Duty's Vicky McClure 'wanted for Strictly Come Dancing'

Strictly Come Dancing producers are reportedly keen to sign up Line of Duty's Vicky McClure for this year's series.

Line of Duty star Vicky McClure is reportedly top of the producers' wishlist for this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 37-year-old actress has appeared as Kate Fleming in all six series of the cop drama, which concluded its latest run with a record-breaking 12.8 million viewers last night.

Gregory Piper, who played shady police recruit Ryan Pilkington, has previously been linked with the show but according to The Sun, McClure is now the top target as this year's lineup is assembled.

McClure is currently filming the second season of Amazon Prime Video's spy thriller Alex Rider in Bristol, although the shoot is expected to be finished by July, meaning that she would potentially be free for a turn on Strictly when it returns in September.

The newspaper also says that producers are considering Shalom Brune-Franklin, who joined Line of Duty as Chloe Bishop for series six, if they are unable to sign up McClure.

Other names in the frame this year include Chris Whitty, Alex Beresford, Tom Malone Jr, Stacey Solomon and Mark Feehily.
