The mother of Levi Davis says that progress has been "very slow" in the search for her missing son in Spain.

The mother of missing rugby star Levi Davis has said that progress has been "very slow" in the search for her son.

The former Bath Rugby wing, 24, disappeared in Barcelona on October 29 and has not been heard from since, with both his phone and bank card not having been used during that time.

Levi's passport was subsequently discovered in the port area of the city - a location where there had been reports of a man in difficulty in the water, but a search was abandoned soon after with no-one found.

The star, who appeared on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019 as well as E4's Celebs Go Dating, had previously been staying with a friend in Ibiza when he suddenly announced that he was leaving for the mainland.

Mother Julie told Good Morning Britain: "I've had a lot of support from family and friends and of course the private investigators have been working very hard and the Spanish police have done their bit as well. But where I think it's been difficult is not having the information come through.

"There's the language barrier of course and having to go via the British consulate before and then the feedback with news updates is very slow, very slow. I know the British consulate are pressing but in terms of the updates and the CCTV coverage it's frustrating.

"We got information back saying it's too late because the Spanish police had to go to court to get paperwork signed so they could access the CCTV. By the time they did get it all the video had been deleted. It's frustrating."

At the time of his disappearance, Levi was playing for RFU Championship champions Ealing Trailfinders but had been sidelined by a knee injury.
