Laura Bechtolsheimer sits second in the individual rankings for Great Britain with her teammate Carl Hester at the top after day one of the dressage grand prix.

Great Britain's Laura Bechtolsheimer has recorded a score of 76.839 to claim second place in the individual rankings of the dressage grand prix.

Bechtolsheimer, who is ranked three in the world, started off confidently with Mistral Hojris. However, the horse looked slightly uncomfortable in the rein back and seemed a little unsteady on the extending walk.

The 27-year-old managed to carry out a comfortable zig-zag and pirouette but was let down slightly by an inconsistent canter.

David Marcus of Canada was disqualified after his horse Capital became distressed minutes into the dressage and failed to settle, which cost Marcus's place in the contest.

Meanwhile, Carl Hester for Great Britain topped the individual rankings with a 77.720, while Germany's Dorothee Schneider is currently placed in third with a 76.277 score.
