Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have reportedly moved into pole position in the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko this summer.

Sesko has spent his entire senior career in the Red Bull system, playing for Red Bull Salzburg and FC Liefering before joining RB Leipzig last summer.

The striker struggled for starting opportunities in the first half of the season due to the form of Belgian forward Lois Openda.

However, he has managed to force his way into Marco Rose's lineup, starting 13 of his previous 17 Bundesliga appearances.

Impressively, Sesko has scored in each of Leipzig's last six matches, including an equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen.

Having scored 17 goals in 41 competitive appearances, the Leipzig man is attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and AC Milan are among those who have been linked with a move for the Slovenia international.

However, according to The Telegraph, Arsenal are currently leading their competitors in the race to secure Sesko's signature.

Sesko previously had a reported £43m release clause in his Leipzig contract, but that figure could increase to £64m due to his recent form in front of goal.

In addition to Sesko, Arsenal are believed to be considering other forward targets, including Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and Bologna's main marksman Joshua Zirkzee.

Arsenal keen to strengthen their forward line

The Gunners have seemingly identified the final third as an area that needs strengthening ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Mikel Arteta has recently opted to utilise Kai Havertz as the main centre-forward due to Gabriel Jesus' injury issues and underwhelming form.

The Brazilian has been affected by several fitness problems this term and has only managed four goals in 26 Premier League appearances.

Meanwhile, there is a possibility that Eddie Nketiah could be moved on after struggling to gain regular playing time.

Nketiah has had to settle for just 10 Premier League starts this season, and his potential departure could open up a space for a new addition.
