Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil reportedly received an £8m loyalty bonus from the club at the end of September.

The 31-year-old has not played for the Gunners since March and has been told that he does not feature in manager Mikel Arteta's plans going forward.

Arsenal tried to offload him during the summer window in order to shift his mammoth £350,000-a-week wages, only for Ozil to turn down any possible exit routes.

The midfielder is now in the final year of his lucrative contract, and The Athletic reports that the deal he signed in 2018 included a loyalty bonus this summer to convince him to stay for the entirety.

The Gunners have been forced to pay Ozil an extra £8m due to him staying until the final 12 months, although they are saving money on appearance bonuses by refusing to play him.

Ozil has been left out of Arsenal's Europa League group stage squad and could also be omitted from the 25-man Premier League squad which needs to be confirmed by October 20.
