How Napoli could line up against Barcelona

Sports Mole looks at how Napoli could line up in Saturday's Champions League clash with Barcelona.

Napoli will be bidding to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history when they travel to Barcelona on Saturday night.

The last-16 tie is delicately poised ahead of the second leg following a 1-1 draw in the reverse match in Naples.

This is the first year that the Italian side have been present in the knockout round of the Champions League since 2016-17, and they will be looking to set up a quarter-final against either Bayern Munich or Chelsea.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Serie A outfit could line up at Camp Nou.

POSS NAP XI vs. BAR

Out: Kostas Manolas (ribs)
Doubtful: Nemanja Maksimovic (ankle), Lorenzo Insigne (thigh)

Napoli will be without the services of Kostas Manolas against Barca due to a knee problem, while fellow central defender Nemanja Maksimovic is also struggling with an ankle injury.

Kalidou Koulibaly missed the first leg through injury, but the Senegal international is available for this match and is likely to be joined at the heart of the back four by Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

As a result, Elseid Hysaj could come into the side at right-back, while Diego Demme and Piotr Zielinski should join Fabian Ruiz as part of a midfield three in a 4-3-3 formation.

Jose Callejon and Dries Mertens are certain to start in the final third, but the Serie A giants are sweating on the fitness of key attacker Lorenzo Insigne.

Indeed, the Italy international picked up a thigh problem against Lazio in Napoli's final league match of the season, and he was forced to train individually on Wednesday as he bids to return from the issue.

Gennaro Gattuso will allegedly wait until the final moment before deciding whether to start Insigne, but various reports in Italy have suggested that the 29-year-old will win the race to be fit.
