Leonardo: 'PSG have a place reserved for Messi'

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi "will always be on Paris Saint-Germain's list" of targets, the French side's sporting director Leonardo admits.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has said that the club are monitoring Lionel Messi's situation at Barcelona and have a place reserved for him.

The Argentina international failed in his attempt to force a move away from Camp Nou last year, but he is a free agent in the summer and is able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.

PSG are considered one of the favourites to land one-club man Messi should he leave Barca, along with Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, and Leonardo would happily welcome the forward to the Parc des Princes.

"Great players like him will always be on PSG's list," he told France Football. "Now is not the time to discuss or even dream of it.

"We are seated at the table of those keeping tabs on it. In fact, not seated, but with a place reserved - just in case. Four months is a long time."

PSG, now under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, are top of Ligue 1 with 20 games of the 38-game season played.
