Primeira Liga strugglers Maritimo occupy the dreaded relegation playoff spot ahead of their home clash with Vitoria de Guimaraes on Saturday afternoon.

Sitting 19 points clear of Maritimo, seventh-placed Vitoria will be looking to end a six-game winless run when they make the trip to Madeira this weekend.

Given that Maritimo are fighting for their lives at the bottom end of the table, we expect the hosts to pick up a precious point against off-form Vitoria de Guimaraes, whose winless run looks set to continue.

With five games remaining to overtake Benfica and Porto, Braga will aim to keep their faint Primeira Liga title hopes alive when Portimonense visit the Estadio Municipal de Braga on Saturday.

Braga have won each of their last four league matches, while back-to-back victories have seen Portimonense steer clear of relegation trouble at the opposite end of the table.

When you couple Braga's exceptional home form with Portimonense's woeful away record, all the signs point towards a straightforward win for Os Arsenalistas at the Estadio Municipal de Braga.

Given that Braga have won 10 of their last 13 home league games – keeping nine clean sheets in the process – we expect Jorge's men to notch another shutout victory in front of their fans.

Chaves and Casa Pia are separated by just two points in the Primeira Liga table as they prepare to do battle in northern Portugal on Saturday night.

Both sides have managed to establish mid-table security after gaining promotion last year, although Casa Pia's form has taken a turn for the worse of late.

Having lost one of their last six matches, Chaves look set to continue their strong end to the season with a narrow victory over Casa Pia, who are on course to suffer a sixth defeat in nine outings.

Holding a four-point lead in the Primeira Liga with just five games to go, Benfica aim to inch closer to the title with victory at Gil Vicente on Saturday.

While the Eagles ended their winless run by edging out Estoril last weekend, their lowly hosts are without a win in six matches.

Due to their hosts' chronic ills in the opposition area, Benfica should record a stress-free win to take them one step closer to the title. They may not be back to their illustrious best, but the Eagles can certainly soar clear of a struggling Gil Vicente side.
