Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola makes seven changes to his starting lineup for this afternoon's FA Cup third-round tie against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made seven changes to his starting lineup for this afternoon's FA Cup third-round tie against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.

The Citizens head into this encounter after securing a slender 1-0 Premier League victory against the West Londoners at Stamford Bridge just three days ago.

The most notable omissions from Guardiola's side are goal machine Erling Braut Haaland and key playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who will begin on the substitutes' bench after they both played the full 90 minutes on Thursday.

First-choice goalkeeper Ederson also makes way, with Stefan Ortega taking his place between the sticks, while Kyle Walker is the only defender to retain his place from midweek, with John Stones, Nathan Ake and Joao Cancelo being replaced by Manuel Akanji, Aymeric Laporte and Sergio Gomez.

In midfield, Rodri will be joined by Bernardo Silva and Cole Palmer, while World Cup winner Julian Alvarez will be supported in attack by Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden, with Jack Grealish missing out entirely due to illness.

As for Chelsea, Graham Potter has made six changes to his starting lineup following Thursday's defeat, with youngsters Bashir Humphreys and Lewis Hall both given opportunities from the off.

Manchester City starting lineup: Ortega; Walker, Akanji, Laporte, Gomez; Palmer, Rodri, Bernardo; Mahrez, Alvarez, Foden

Subs: Ederson, Stones, Ake, Cancelo, Lewis, Gundogan, Phillips, De Bruyne, Haaland

Chelsea starting lineup: Kepa; Humphreys, Koulibaly, Chalobah, Hall; Kovacic, Jorginho, Gallagher; Ziyech, Mount; Havertz

Subs: Bettinelli, Thiago Silva, Badiashile, Zakaria, Datro Fofana, Azpilecueta, Chukwuemeka, Cucurella, Hutchinson
