New Chelsea signing Timo Werner has said that he is "delighted" to join the club and has predicted a "very successful future" at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues confirmed the arrival of the in-demand 24-year-old this morning in a deal worth a reported £47.5m from RB Leipzig.

Werner, who is understood to have agreed a five-year contract worth around £170,000 per week, will join up with his new teammates in July, following the conclusion of the Bundesliga season.

"I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club," Werner told Chelsea's official website.

"I of course want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years. You will forever be in my heart.

"I look forward to next season with my new teammates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us."

Werner has enjoyed a prolific campaign for Leipzig this season, scoring 32 goals across all competitions including 26 in the league.
