Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin may reportedly not play again this season after another injury setback sustained during a freak accident in training.

Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin has reportedly been dealt yet another injury blow after suffering an accident during training.

The 25-year-old has endured a torrid time with injuries since arriving on Merseyside in the summer of 2019, and he has only managed three appearances for the club following long-term quadriceps and Achilles problems.

Gbamin slowly worked his way back to fitness and finally got another taste of Premier League action against Crystal Palace on April 5, where he enjoyed an 11-minute cameo as a substitute in that 1-1 draw.

However, The Athletic now reports that Gbamin suffered a freak accident in a recent training session, and there are fears that he may not play again before the season is over.

The report adds that the former Lens and Mainz 05 man has not suffered a recurrence of his previous Achilles of quadriceps problems, but Everton are shocked at Gbamin's latest injury blow so soon after his long-awaited comeback.

Gbamin joins fellow midfielders Allan, Fabian Delph, Andre Gomes and Abdoulaye Doucoure in the Everton treatment room, while Bernard and Jordan Pickford are also struggling with injuries.
