Kit Symons expects decision on Fulham future soon

Kit Symons feels that he will find out soon whether or not he will be appointed Fulham manager on a full-time basis.

Fulham caretaker manager Kit Symons has said that he thinks he will be told soon whether or not he has earned the Cottagers top job on a full-time basis.

The 43-year-old has won five of nine games since taking charge after the dismissal of Felix Magath, helping Fulham out of the Championship's drop zone.

"I get the feeling it is getting closer and hope it's getting closer. I'm sure it is," Symons told BBC London 94.9.

"I'm in regular contact with the owner (Shahid Khan) and we have some good in-depth chats."

Khan has employed a five-man committee that includes former captain Danny Murphy and Niall Quinn to help decide who should be the next manager.

"I understand the process fully and have got no problem with it," added Symons.

Despite helping Fulham up the league table, their run in the Capital One Cup came to an end in the fourth round last night as Championship leaders Derby County visited and registered a 5-2 success.
