Nathan Clarke backs Russell Slade for Leyton Orient job

Leyton Orient captain Nathan Clarke believes that current manager Russell Slade should not be sacked following the team's poor start to the season.

Leyton Orient captain Nathan Clarke has insisted that manager Russell Slade is the right man to lead the club forward.

Slade's job at Brisbane Road has come under scrutiny following the team's disappointing start to the season.

The 53-year-old claimed after Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Notts County that he has only one game to turn things around.

Despite time apparently running out for Slade, Orient skipper Clarke is eager for the manager to stay with the club.

"He's always stuck behind us and we as players believe he is the man to take us forward and we want him here as long as possible. The supporters are right behind the players, the manager and the staff," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"We know the owners want success, we do as players and so do the staff. We are giving everything and sticking together to try to turn things around."

Orient are back in action on Saturday with a trip to Scunthorpe United.
