Gareth Bale is reportedly able to depart Los Angeles FC before the end of February due to a break clause in his contract.

Gareth Bale is reportedly in a position where he can dictate whether he continues at Los Angeles FC next season.

When the forward signed for the MLS team earlier this year, it was perceived that he had made the move to keep fit ahead of the World Cup.

Although the 33-year-old struggled to remain at 100% during his early months in the United States, the Wales international was still able to chip in with three goals from his two starts and 11 substitute outings.

Bale also ensured that he will remain in LAFC folklore with a last-gasp equaliser in the MLS playoff final, his side subsequently going on to defeat Philadelphia Union on penalties.

However, the World Cup did not go to plan for Bale, who was ineffective during open play and picked up a hamstring issue in Wales' final game as they bowed out of the tournament with just one point from three matches.

Despite speculation about retirement, Bale came out after the contest with England to suggest that he has every intention of prolonging his career in 2023.

Speaking on his international career, Bale said: "I'll keep going as long as I can and as long as I'm wanted. It's a difficult moment now. But we go again.

"We have a qualifying campaign [for the European Championship] starting in March and we have a few months to get away from international football now, which is obviously disappointing."

Nevertheless, according to The Sun, Bale has decisions to make regarding the trajectory of his club career in California.

The report claims that the attacker is able to end his contract before February if an agreement can be reached between the relevant parties.

Bale currently has one year remaining on his existing terms and has previously acknowledged that he is enjoying life at LAFC.

Club officials allegedly expect Bale to continue with his team until the end of 2023, honouring his contract in full, and he has not been linked with a transfer elsewhere.

The new season does not begin until February, providing Bale with at least two months to decide on whether to progress with the Western Conference champions and MLS Cup winners.
