Manchester United 'could sign Kalidou Koulibaly for £39m this summer'

Napoli reportedly drop their asking price for centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, who has been linked with Manchester United, to £39m.

Napoli have reportedly dropped their asking price for centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to €45m (£39m).

The Senegal international is widely viewed as one of the best defenders in world football and has been consistently linked with a move away from Naples over the last couple of years.

Napoli are believed to have valued the 29-year-old in the region of £100m before the coronavirus outbreak, but the ongoing pandemic has allegedly forced the Italian side to significantly cut their asking price.

According to Il Mattino, the Serie A outfit need to make cuts and are now open to offloading the centre-back for a fee in the region of €45m (£39m) due to his high salary.

Bayern Munich are said to have identified Koulibaly as a transfer target despite already agreeing a deal to sign Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig.

However, Manchester United have also been strongly linked with the former Metz youngster, and Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be targeting a new defender during this summer's transfer window to play alongside captain Harry Maguire on a long-term basis.
