Lille forward Jonathan David, who continues to be linked with Manchester United, says that it is "very possible" he will soon move to the Premier League.

Lille forward Jonathan David has said that it is "very possible" he will soon make the move to England.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for his French club during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring nine goals and registering three assists in 15 Ligue 1 appearances.

David was also in action for Canada at the 2022 World Cup, making three appearances at the competition.

Manchester United are said to be huge admirers of the centre-forward, with the Red Devils looking to bring in a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo during the January transfer window.

David has said that he does not know whether he can picture himself "anywhere other than the Premier League", as he bids to take the next step in his career in the near future.

"In England, when I watch the matches, everything is full each time. As a player, it motivates you even more," he told La Voic du Nord.

"I don't know, I think it's possible, very possible. I don't know if I can find myself anywhere other than the Premier League. It could well be the Premier League. It's a very nice atmosphere."

A recent report claimed that Lille would be willing to sell the Canadian during the January transfer window providing that they received an offer in the region of €50m (£43m).

Speaking during the World Cup, David said: "I am aware of nothing. When I am at the World Cup I am just focused on trying to enjoy the World Cup and enjoying the moment.

"What happens after I do not know, we will have to see. The Premier League is the best league in the world and I think every player would want to play there some day."

David has scored 41 goals and registered eight assists in 111 appearances for Lille since making the move to Les Dogues from Gent in August 2020, while he won the Ligue 1 title during his first campaign at the club.

The Canadian also scored 37 goals and registered 15 assists in 83 appearances for Gent, having started his professional career with the Belgian outfit.

Man United had been strongly linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven's Cody Gakpo, but the Netherlands international is now on the verge of making the move to Liverpool.

There is currently uncertainty surrounding the club's plans for a new striker in January, with a recent report claiming that they could be forced to enter the loan market due to the current ownership situation, as the Glazers attempt to sell the club.
