Manchester United reportedly begin 'preliminary talks' with midfielder Paul Pogba regarding a new contract at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have reportedly made their first attempt to convince Paul Pogba to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

Earlier in the summer, the midfielder revealed that he wanted to take on a new challenge, allegedly at either Real Madrid or former club Juventus.

Despite a move failing to materialise, there has been little suggestion that the 26-year-old will consider changing his stance in the future.

However, The Times claims that United are making an effort to keep the World Cup winner at the club past 2022, which is when his current contract will expire due to the Premier League giants possessing a 12-month option on his deal.

The report suggests that 'preliminary talks' have been held with Pogba in recent weeks, although there is no indication of how they were received by the France international.

Pogba has not featured for United throughout September due to an ankle injury.
