Matthijs de Ligt's agent Mino Raiola reportedly offers Manchester United the chance to sign the Ajax captain after negotiations with Juventus stalled over his commission.

Manchester United have reportedly been given fresh hope of signing Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax this summer.

The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the most coveted players in world football following a 2018-19 campaign which saw him captain Ajax to a league and cup double as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Juventus were understood to have been closing in on a deal for the youngster, having seemingly beaten off competition from the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

However, certain elements of the agreement remain a point of contention, most notably the £9m being demanded by agent Mino Raiola as commission.

Juve have no qualms with paying Ajax their €75m (£67m) asking price, but they are reluctant to give Raiola such a hefty slice and football consultant Ian McGarry claims that Raiola has subsequently offered his client to United as an alternative.

The Red Devils are also hesitant to include such a fee for an agent, though, particularly given that their relationship with Raiola has deteriorated during Paul Pogba's attempts to leave the club.
