Cristiano Ronaldo is happy for Manchester United to sign a new centre-forward this summer, according to a report.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly happy for Manchester United to bring a new centre-forward to the club during this summer's transfer window.

The Portugal international enjoyed an impressive 2021-22 campaign at Old Trafford despite the team's struggles, scoring 24 goals and registering three assists in 38 appearances in all competitions.

There has recently been speculation surrounding the 37-year-old's future in Manchester, but he is expected to stay with the club for the 2022-23 season.

Edinson Cavani's departure on a free transfer has left Man United short of options at centre-forward, while Anthony Martial could potentially leave the club on a permanent basis this summer.

The Red Devils are said to be keen to sign a new forward in the current market, and according to The Express, Ronaldo has given the green light for the club to bring in a player in his area of the field.

Man United had been strongly linked with a move for Darwin Nunez earlier this summer, but the Uruguay international has since joined Liverpool in a big-money deal from Benfica.

Erling Braut Haaland was also viewed as a target last year, but Manchester City won the race to sign the in-demand centre-forward from Borussia Dortmund.

Roma's Tammy Abraham is allegedly now being considered by the 20-time English champions, with his form in Italy last season drawing admiring glances from the club.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Man United have had a bid rejected for Porto striker Evanilson but are preparing to return with a fresh approach.

Robert Lewandowski has also been linked, as the Poland international looks to leave Bayern Munich, but Barcelona are firmly at the head of the queue for the experienced striker.

Mason Greenwood remains suspended by the club, while Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho found it difficult to make their mark last term, with the team relying on Ronaldo for goals.

The Portuguese netted 18 times in 30 Premier League appearances, while he also found the back of the net on six occasions in seven Champions League outings.

A new midfielder is believed to be the club's priority this term, though, with Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong the leading target, while Christian Eriksen has allegedly been offered a contract.

Man United also continue to be linked with a new centre-back, while another goalkeeper will be required if Dean Henderson leaves the club amid interest from Nottingham Forest.

The 20-time English champions will be back in pre-season training later this month, while their first friendly of the summer will be against bitter rivals Liverpool on July 12.
