Alexis Sanchez confirms Manchester United exit with farewell message

Alexis Sanchez posts a farewell message to his Manchester United teammates as the Chilean closes in on a switch to Inter Milan.

Alexis Sanchez has seemingly confirmed that his loan switch from Manchester United to Inter Milan has been completed ahead of Monday's European deadline.

The Chile international arrived in Italy on Wednesday night to undergo a medical with Inter ahead of a switch to the Serie A giants for the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign.

Neither United nor Inter have confirmed the deal, but Sanchez has posted a message on social media wishing his former teammates "good luck" for the rest of the season.

Antonio Conte's side are said to be contributing £4.5m of the attacker's salary this season, meaning that the move could still end up costing United in the region of £6m despite having him off their books.

Sanchez, who has a contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2022, has only scored five times in 45 appearances during a disappointing spell with the 20-time English champions.

The South American's exit will leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side short of options in the final third with Romelu Lukaku also leaving for San Siro earlier this summer, while Anthony Martial will miss Saturday's clash against Southampton through injury.
