How Peru could line up against Colombia

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Peru could line up for Saturday's Copa America clash with Colombia.

Coming into Saturday's Copa America third-place playoff clash with Colombia, Peru could revert back to their familiar system after moving to a more defensive approach in their semi-final defeat to Brazil last time out.

They will be majorly boosted by the return of Andre Carrillo, who has hit two goals and registered two assists from five appearances in this year's tournament, after he served a suspension last time out following a red card in their quarter-final clash with Paraguay.

He should rejoin Sergio Pena and Christian Cueva in the trio supporting lone striker Gianluca Lapadula.

Lapadula has impressed in this tournament as Peru's new key forward, registering three goals and an assist amidst questions around the surprise omission of all-time top scorer Paolo Guerrero from the squad.

To accommodate the four attacking players, Gareca will likely revert back to his usual system of four at the back, after he brought centre-back Anderson Santamaria into the side last time out to strengthen the back line in an attempt to deal with a dangerous Brazil attack.

Instead, the familiar back four of Aldo Corzo, Christian Ramos, Alexander Callens and Miguel Trauco should reform.

They will be shielded by the pair of Yoshimar Yotun and Renato Tapia, with the pair having arguably been Los Incas' two most impressive players throughout the tournament with assured performances to prevent the defence being overrun.

Peru possible starting lineup: Gallese; Corzo, Ramos, Callens, Trauco; Tapia, Yotun; Carrillo, Pena, Cueva; Lapadula
