Alex: 'Marquinhos should leave Paris Saint-Germain'

Brazilian international defender Alex advises his fellow countryman Marquinhos to leave Paris Saint-Germain in order to fulfil his potential.

Former Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex says that Marquinhos needs to leave the Ligue 1 champions to progress his career.

The 21-year-old joined the club from Roma in 2013 but has failed to nail down a starting berth in his preferred position of centre-back, with Thiago Silva and David Luiz standing in his way.

Alex feels that his fellow Brazilian needs regular game time to fulfill his potential and said that if he were in his shoes, he would look for a move away.

The AC Milan defender told L'Equipe: "Marquinhos would have a place at any major European club, His problem at PSG is that he faces competition from two of the best in the world in his position.

"All the big clubs are keen to sign him. Every transfer window, he receives some amazing offers. He is still young and has to play, show his worth. Had I been in his position, I would quit PSG."

Marquinhos made 19 appearances in Ligue 1 last season but has played just three times so far this campaign.
