Gus Poyet reiterates Bordeaux stance on in-demand winger Malcom

New Bordeaux boss Gus Poyet insists that Brazilian winger Malcom will remain at the club this week, despite growing interest in his services.

Gus Poyet has revealed that keeping hold of Malcom was key to his decision to take charge of Bordeaux, as the Ligue 1 side again reiterated that the winger is going nowhere.

The Brazilian wideman has reportedly been at the centre of a four-team battle for his signature, which Tottenham Hotspur had been the favourites to win.

Bordeaux have not budged on their not-for-sale stance, however, regardless of Spurs reportedly offering to loan the 20-year-old straight back until the end of the season.

Speaking after his unveiling as new manager on Monday, Poyet told L'Equipe: "I asked straight away if Malcom would be staying or not. They said yes. I said OK, now we can continue the discussion."

Club president Stephane Martin added: "It has been said and said again, he will not be leaving. He has said he wants to play in the Premier League one day. That is normal - what player wouldn't want to play in England? There is no problem with Malcom."

Poyet was appointed manager of the French club at the weekend, a few days on from the sacking of Jocelyn Gourvennec following a disappointing run of form.
